Experienced Roping Engineer required

Due to expansion we are looking for an Experienced Roping Engineer to join us in a full-time, permanent role.

Working for an employer who treats you as an employee rather than a number, our Lift Repair teams are generally teams of 2 or 3, supported by a friendly office network.

The role will involve the odd night away, but no night time callouts, or ‘on call’ duties.

Essential Requirements

Experience of installation (and replacement) of all types of roping media including ropes, belts, chains, and including taking compression measurements.

Knowledge of terminations including din clamps, eyebolts, wedges, swaged ends, splicing

Knowledge and experience of working on different roping arrangements including 1:1, 2:1, 4:1 etc.

Experience of sheave and pulley replacements.

Excellent communication skills with a professional and courteous manner.

Able to complete site paperwork accurately and manage your own time efficiently.

A team player able to use own initiative.

Holder of a full UK driving licence.

Desirable Requirements

Educated to NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Lift Maintenance/Repair is preferred though full training and development will be provided including attainment of formal qualifications.

General Duties

Engineering duties to ensure completion of Customer jobs as laid out in the job work pack and as directed by the team leader.

Working effectively in a team of engineers including scaffolders.

Liaising with the Operations Manager on any training and development needs for self.

Ensuring that all materials, tools and equipment needed are available and in the van prior to setting off for a job.

Woking in a professional manner at all times representing the company and our customer, wearing company approved and branded clothing and PPE.

Encourage best practice from others in the team, supporting the team leader at all times.

Ensuring that any H & S requirements for the site are undertaken by yourself and your colleague(s) prior to starting the job, or, as and when necessary according to the customer.

Identifying any tooling needing to be hired and taking responsibility for timely off-hire.

Ensuring that final checks of the whole job are completed, with an emphasis on Health & Safety,

Ensuring the work area is left in a clean and tidy state.

Ensuring safe disposal of any waste on return to the Workshop, including oil and ropes, into the appropriate recycling facility.

Undertaking training as required which may include toolbox talks, in-house, on the job, external or classroom based learning.


Excellent hourly rate for the industry, with overtime rates paid for hours worked outside of your core working hours.

  • Monday to Thursday 08.00am to 16.30pm.
  • Friday 08.00am to 15.45pm.

Fully kitted out company van, full company uniform, and all necessary safety equipment.

Expenses paid weekly.

25 days’ holiday per year plus all statutory holidays.
